The county is the origin of Florida’s High-Velocity Hurricane Zone, and HVHZ projects require Notice of Acceptance product approval through Miami-Dade, missile-impact testing under TAS 201, 202, and 203 for opening protection, and structural calculations sealed by a Florida-licensed engineer. An off-the-shelf carport package will not pass plan review in Hialeah. The building has to be engineered to HVHZ criteria from the outset.
